OUR STORY
Founder
Our founder Arturo Elizondo was born in Texas and is of Mexican heritage. Growing up on both sides of the Texas/Mexico border, food, particularly animal protein, was a big part of his culture.
In 2010, Arturo joined a sub-agency of the USDA that oversees slaughterhouses across the country. After learning how food gets to the plate and the environmental destruction its production causes, he tried to remove animal products from his diet.
In 2013 Arturo went to study diplomacy and food security in Geneva, learning about the global scope of the issue with our food system and animal agriculture. The following year, he booked a one-way ticket to San Francisco to tackle the food supply problem first-hand.
Clara Foods
Once in San Francisco, Arturo met co-founders David Anchel and Isha Datar through a research community called New Harvest. The three quickly realized they shared a similar vision and complementary skills. Clara Foods was born.
Launched in November 2014, Clara Foods set about accelerating new breakthroughs in the development and delivery of ethical and sustainable proteins.
The next 6 years were spent deep in R&D, building an expert team, perfecting our precision fermentation technology platform and proteins
In 2021, we launched the world’s first nature-identical animal-free pepsin.
EVERY
Clara Foods rebranded to The EVERY Company in 2021 to better convey our vision of bringing animal-free proteins to everyone, everywhere and pursue our mission to accelerate the world’s transition to animal free protein, by decoupling proteins from the animals that make them.
Our first animal-free egg protein product, EVERY ClearEgg, is already launched.
